One eSIM for several countries

A plan per country in one app

Yesim and Saily keep several country plans on one eSIM: buy a plan for each country before you fly, and each starts when you arrive in that country. For a route through Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan with 5 GB in each, Yesim costs €27.70 in total.

Pay as you go with Drimsim

Drimsim is one eSIM that charges €0.01 per MB in all four countries, plus €10 for the eSIM. It suits light use: 1 GB costs about €10, 5 GB about €51.

Popular routes

Silk Road: Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva

Uzbekistan only, often with Almaty or Bishkek at one end. Coverage is good in the cities and along the main roads and railway. See eSIM for Uzbekistan.

Almaty, Bishkek and Issyk-Kul

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The signal is strong in both capitals and patchier in the mountains around Issyk-Kul. See Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Pamir Highway: Dushanbe to Osh

Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Expect long stretches without any signal in GBAO and on the high passes: download offline maps and share your route before you set off. See Tajikistan.

What coverage to expect

  • Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan: reliable in cities and along main roads.
  • Kyrgyzstan: good in Bishkek, Osh and Karakol, patchy or absent on treks and at high lakes.
  • Tajikistan: fine in Dushanbe and Khujand, with long gaps on the Pamir Highway.
  • Turkmenistan is not covered on sim.uz.

Crossing a border

  • Install every plan over Wi-Fi before you leave home: border posts rarely have Wi-Fi.
  • After the crossing, switch mobile data to the plan for the new country and keep data roaming on.
  • Download offline maps for the whole route.
  • A travel eSIM needs no IMEI registration. A local SIM works in a tourist’s phone for about 30 days without registration in each of these countries.
